Chipping Pile DOs

​

  • Stack material next to the road so the chipping crew can easily reach the pile.

  • Stack all chipping material neatly and evenly with ends facing the road.

  • Stack materials loosely so the branches/limbs can be pulled apart easily.

  • Tree trunks and limbs must be smaller than 6 inches in diameter.

  • Keep your piles under 4 feet high.

  • Keep your pile less than 12 feet long.

Chipping Pile DON'Ts

​

  • IMPORTANT: No oleander or poison oak – these are toxic/harmful and will not be chipped.

  • No palm fronds, Scotch broom, berry vines, or thorny material (e.g. roses).

  • No construction materials, tree stumps, or rocks.

  • No foreign material – wire, string, metal, etc.

  • No roots – dirt and rocks in the roots damage machinery.

  • No mud or dirt – do not drag your branches through mud or dirt.

  • No bulldozed or machine-stacked piles.

  • Do not cross-stack piles.

  • Do not stack brush over existing vegetation or the roadway.
